Motor mounted, batteries in place for spacing the battery brackets. I'll try them all in the back at first. Hopefully it won't be too much weight back there.

Keeping the batteries where they are will look nice and clean. Are you worried about the front end popping up, or the back end sinking when you're in the water?

Will the transmission turn the wheels on one side backward while turning the other side forward?

"Are you worried about the front end popping up, or the back end sinking when you're in the water?" Both, but mostly worried about the front lifting when I'm climbing a steep hill with a trailer of wood attached.
The transmission can reverse one side while going forward on the other, though it doesn't come setup that way, it steers by braking one side while driving the other using the vertical control sticks. There is a common shifter under the seat that shifts both sides from forward to reverse, but you can setup two separate shifters to do it individually. I may do that at some point. The T-20 transmission is basically 2 transmissions bolted together.
